SEGA

Sega Genesis / Mega Drive

SEGA was the main Nintendo competitor in the 16-bit era. SEGA Genesis was released a couple of years before Nintendo chose to change from the highly successful NES to SNES so it had an advantage of an early start. And the Sonic games were a lot faster than Mario games on NES :)

Nowadays You can buy a portable Sega Genesis / Master System version with built-in best games. It has a TV out so it can wok as normal TV console and when you travel you can take it with you.
